Zakel's big puppy eyes looked over Corliss' face as she thought. His eyes overran with worry. His head hung slightly as she responded. "I just want you to be happy, love." He nuzzled his face into her neck and kissed it gently before laying back down. His eyes were still slightly sad. Now she had him thinking of things. Bad things. He never really trusted other shifters and he was always protective of Corliss even when his pack was around he never let her out of arms length, just in case. Whenever he met up with a vampire the first thing that he thought of was what would happen if the bloodsucker would follow his scent back to his loving wife.
"It will always be that way though. There will always be shifters and there will always be vampires. It's a never ending cycle that I'm swept up in." He looked over to her and ran his warm index finger across her smooth cheek. "And your what makes my life worth living..."

Now she felt worse then before. It wasnt her intention to make him feel bad, or guilty. She just needed to talk, talk things out before she blew up at him, or even worse one of his pack members. She was sure that Zak had his ability under control, that nothing could shake him. But the others, she wasnt so certain. She stepped lightly around them, chooseing her words carfuly just to they didnt snap. It happened so quickly, in the blink of a eye. A man standing there, then a snarling huge beast. The first few moments they had no control, and she didnt want to be caught within the middle of it.
Sighing, Corliss pushed her hair back behind her ears and looked away from Zak, her sea-foam eyes looking to the worn floor boards. Nothing she could say would make him feel better. Moments like this she wish she could just be the calm and peaceful wife who never spoke, who never had a mind of her own. More often then not her mind got her into alot of trouble. Nothing left to be said, she pulled the covers up over her naked body and curled herself closer to Zak, pressing her lips to his cheek gingerly.

Zak's eyes closed as his wife curled close to him and pressed her lips against his cheeks. His warm body always got warmer when she touched him, she was like a fuel. "I'm fine Corliss, I swear to you." and he truly was. These things came up in these situations. It wasn't unexpected, it wasn't something that hadn't crossed his mind before. He just always avoided it. To consumed in his love to try and find something to worry about. He turned his head towards Corliss and met his lips against hers for a brief moment before opening his eyes and gazing into her sea-foam green ones.

Corliss forced herself to smile as she curled into his arms, the fall wind cutting through the room and prickling her skin. Zak was always so warm, so the windows being open was nessacary. She regretted bringing up the fact that she was having doubts about living in La Push. She regretted alot of things, that she felt like a wedge breaking him and his pack apart, and that he always seemed so exausted because she demanded his attention once her was done with his duties. But she had already brought up enough sore subjects for one night, and for now she just needed to enjoy the time with him that she had. Another kiss was pressed to his chest, as she closed her eyes and tried to sleep.

Zakel was always going to feel torn, between a life with the pack and a life with Corliss. He felt obligated to give both his attention but often things seemed to go one way or another. Zakel knew he could never give up Corliss, he would never be able to live without her. But the pack was all he knew before her, the first time that he felt like he belonged since the accident when he was young.
He wrapped his massive arms around her, holding her col body against his warm one and closed his eyes once more as he felt her lips touch against his chest. He cherished her so much but he knew that life in La Push was tough, for anyone, let alone for someone who was just passing through then was swept up in the life of a shifter. He regretted that he had to put her through it but that was his life, and they were going to have to confront it one way or another, either with Zakel's life or when they're child shifted.
"I love you." Whispered through his lips, cutting the night air. It was all he could think of to say but it seemed to sum up everything.

******
Seeing he often slept like the dead, if the dead snored that was, Corliss had perfected the art of slipping out of bed in the early morning. Not that she liked early mornings, but 10am for most people wasnt a early start. Pulling a sweatshirt and yoga pants on, she made her way to the kitchen and collected the nessacary pots and pans to start breakfast. It was the weekend, so she always made him and her a larger meal for the morning.

Zakel hadn't remembered falling asleep and when he woke up his arm lay empty on the bed, one of the worst feelings he ever had. He opened his eyes slightly in defiance to the morning light shining through the window to their bedroom on the east side of the house. His loose ponytail was down to the very end of the hair tie and his hair jabbed wildly in every which way. Zak sat up, exposing his tan torso to the sun. He pulled the tie out the rest of the way and wrangled his hair together before tying it into a tight ponytail to the back of his head.
He stumbled when he took his first step out of bed, still getting over the morning drowsiness. He could smell the food before he even walked out of the bedroom door, the smell wafting through the house, of course his extra senses didn't help much. He wandered down the stairs and into the kitchen where he found his Corliss wearing her simple morning clothes that even a model couldn't pull of as well as she did. He shuffled up behind her and wrapped his arm around her waist, kissing her on the shoulder.

A contented moan escaped her lips as his strong arms wrapped around her, embracing her in secutiry that even the president would envy. Her hair stuck up every wich way, untamed still in the early hours. Her morning clothes were simply a pair of yoga pants, with a sweatshirt on. In the summer she tended to dress in lighter nightgowns, but seeing it was dead October the fall chill crept into the house easily.
Scooping up the scrambled eggs, she took a large plate and began to serve the breakfast food upon it. "Morning Big Bad Wolf..." She smiled, still adoring the nicknames that they held for eachother. She was his little red riding hood, and he was her big bad wolf. Something that came about when they first met in the woods, what seemed to be so long ago. Pressing a bit of bacon to her lips, she nibbled happily while moving in his arms, twisting and offering him the huge platter sized plate of carb goodness.

A wide smile formed on Zakel's face as his wife spoke. "Morning Little Red Riding Hood..." He said into her shoulder. She twisted in his arm and handed him a platter full of heart clogging goodies. A smile formed on Zakel's face and he took the platter with one hand and placed it on the counter behind him. He then took both of his gigantic hands and ran them into her morning hair, smoothing it slightly to her head.
He looked deep into her sea-foam green eyes, one of his favorite past times, and his smile turned into a sly one as he leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers. "How did you sleep love?" He asked, slightly worried as to h0w she was after the conversation they had had the night before.

"Well enough." She responded. He knew that she slept like the dead, no matter what her emotional state was. But her dreams were filled with images of her nightmares, and it was enough to give her the unsettling chills when she woke. Nothing before used to frighten her, she was the self proclaimed ghost and spook hunter, and now her biggest fears were so common it was laughable. Not that she was in a town surrounded by vampire and werewolves, but that she wanted a child, she wanted to raise it, but she was scared to do so here.
"Your breakfast is going to get cold if you wait any longer. What are you doing today? Anything I can come along with...?" She didnt have to work, although her books were being neglected. Every time she started writing she found herself telling -her- story, and that would do nothing but hurt Zak. So she was taking a small break, and the time alone did nothing for her traveling mind.

Zakel pecked his love on the cheek and then picked up the platter from the counter and placed it on the small round table sitting in the corner, holding out her chair for her to sit down. He then sat across from her and placed several plates on the table.
"Well, I was thinking that today we could do something, just you and I for a change." Today was one of the few days he had completely off from patrolling duties normally the pack worked in shifts so that they didn't have to be away all day, but today was an exception. "So what do you say? Would you like to stay at home, or go into Seattle or something, maybe visit a museum." He smiled at his beautiful wife, glad he had the day to spend with her.
