Just seeing the clean interior of the car let her know just how diffrent they were. Corliss's own car was filthy, the backseat long gone to fast food wrappers and trash. She never bothered cleaning it. In fact most of the time it sat in the driveway of the small ranch style home. If she couldnt walk, she didnt want to go. On the occasion she would drive down to Port Angels, but it ended in dissapointment. Nothing really could catch her attention like running beside her husband and pressing her fingers through his thick fur.
Shuddering at the thought, she flashed a fake smile. "Its chilly.." She lied, just so the girl wouldnt think she had a leather fetish or something. "Bella...I've heard your name thrown around the Rez a bit before, its quiet now..." Bella. The vampire girl.

She rolled down the main stretch cautiously. She never drove as fast as the others. She still wasn't quite used to the fact she was nearly indestructible not to mention her extremely fast reflexes. When Corliss mentioned she had heard Bella's name before she nearly slammed on the breaks but kept her cool. She looked straight forward and shrugged. She couldn't know the truth, or else why would she have gotten in the car. How much had Zakel told her? "Oh really?" She asked innocently. "Forks and La Push as so small, one little rumor starts and before you know it everyone around you is talking." She said trying to cover.
She pulled out of town and they were now winding around bends and curves through a foggy forest on the way to the boarder of Forks and the reservation. She silently debated in her head how she should explain dropping Corliss off at the boarder. She certainly couldn't cross on to the reservation. But she didn't want to seem too suspicious.

Corliss swore she could taste the awkwarness hanging in the air. It was thick, just about as thick headed as the pair sitting in the car. She shouldnt have taken the ride, she knew that Bella wasnt just a human. She knew that Carlisle wasnt just a amazing doctor. She knew alot of things that she shouldnt have. And one day it was going to get her into trouble. And maybe that day would be now...
"So...what is it like?" Corliss didnt even realize the words were coming out of her mouth before it was too late. She bit her tounge so hard it nearly bled, her eyes widening as she glanced over to Bella. Hopefuly she would think she was just talking about what it was like to be known...she hoped.

Bella looked over at Corliss and smiled slightly, awkwardly. She car turned around a deep bend when Corliss asked her the cryptic question. Whats it like? What's what like? What was she getting at? Either she was asking what it was like to drive a Mercedes or she knew more than she was leading on. Bella looked at Corliss out of the corner of her eye. She could tell the woman was embarrassed about her question. Clearly she wasn't talking about the car. Still she didn't want to assume.
"What does what feel like?" She asked trying to sound casual, but might have let the slightest bit of agitation sneak in there. Why would she have gotten in the car if she KNEW what Bella was. Had Zak told her? Did it violate the treaty to tell a significant other? Regardless she wouldn't tell Carlisle unless she had to. She dreaded the day someone broke the treaty and problems arose between their species again.

Of course she wouldnt come out and say that 'well its fucking sweet Corliss!' about being what she was. She had to be better then that. Maybe she was just jumping ahead again, Bella could just be a normal girl. Muttering to herself Corliss swore that being with her super natural family was getting to her head. Before she used to talk to the dead, and collect the stories. Now she was -part- of a story, looking for the branches that closed the gaps and brought everything together.
"The car, must be nice and impressive to drive something like this.." She covered, being as smooth as she could be. her hands gingerly caressed over the leather dash and fine inlay of the car.

Bella internally let a sigh of relief when Corliss started talking about the car but wondered if she was being truthful. She smiled and looked to Corliss. "Honestly? This may sound ungrateful but it was a gift from my husband and I actually miss my old red pick-up." She said almost laughing.
Edward bought her the damn car as a wedding gift and it was an inside joke that it was called the Guardian (being as she was so accident prone). It was very nice, but she never felt it was really "her". Maybe it was shiny and new like her new body, but the truck had always felt right.
She let out a theatrical sigh and shrugged "I don't know, there is a good chance Edward will be replacing it again soon anyway. You know men, sometimes it easier just to let them do what they want." It wasn't worth the discussion. He would do what he wanted anyway.

Her brows arched at the mentioning of 'replacing' the car. How loaded were the bloodsuckers? She imagined that they only hunted the rich in there youth and took what they wanted. It would make sense, and in reality it wouldnt suprise her too much. She had yet to come across a vampire that had impressed her. Even the good Doctor was still..just so diffrent. She didnt know if they could be trusted, and although eternal and nearly angelic...everyone had weaknesses.
"You talk about getting a new car like getting a new pair of sneakers or something. Like its so easy.." A bitter edge took to her voice, if she was aware of it or not. They seemed to glide through life with little to no struggle, everything coming so easy. And what did they sacrafice for it? Nothing. Maybe that's what she hated the most about them. They were -so- inhuman. The shifters still had to struggle with everyday issues, like making money, working, surviving in the world. Not the vampires.

They rounded another deep curve, a break in the trees offered a glimpse of the cold churning ocean. She sensed the bitterness in Corliss's voice. She would have blushed deeply if she could. She wanted to tell Corliss everything, that she was new to all this, that the money meant nothing to her, that the things she faced every day, the danger, the loneliness, it wasn't all champagne wishes and caviar dreams.
"It's not what you think." She said quietly, almost inaudible to a human ear. "I mean, that came out wrong." She said a little louder, turning her amber eyes to Corliss for a brief second.

Drawing a deep breath, Corliss just let out a short laughter. Here she was, in a old tee shirt littered with moth holes, and sweatpants that were far too large for her, rolled at the top just so they would stay up. Sitting in a luxery car, with a girl who really probably wanted nothing to do with her. Except maybe nibble her neck and bring her back to the rest of the family for a snack. She should have known better then to put herself in this postion. Locking herself within a car with a person she had so many questions for. So much anger for...
It was the bloodsuckers fault after all that she had to basicly stay a prisoner to La Push. That they couldnt leave. That she had to raise her child on the Rez and not be able to move back home ever. All because the leeaches were in Forks, and it was Zak and his tribes job to keep the world safe...
"Just let me out here."

She wanted to explain. She wanted nothing more than to tell her everything. Tell SOMEONE everything. Instead it had to stay a big secret. She couldn't tell Corliss of all people. But still she wondered how much her husband had told her. Did she knew about the vampires? More specifically did she know about Bella's family?
She very well couldn't keep her in the car. It would do more harm than good. Why she even offered her a ride or followed her around the store she didn't know. Corliss asked her to drop her off. They were about half a mile off the reservation, she couldn't take her much closer to the border anyway. She pulled the car to a slow stop in silence. "I'm sorry." She said quietly. What more could she say? "I didn't mean to upset you. And I hope..." How to say this cryptically enough? "I hope you'll... keep an open mind about my family in the future. We're not what we seem." She finished. Good, she could be talking about their money if she didn't know about the vampires and if she did perhaps she would understand their different diet.

"Nothing is really what it seems is it Isabella? And..if this was a half hearted attempt to get on our goodside..it really didnt work. Its your fault that I cant leave this place and return to my family back in RI...so..yea. It really is what it seems." Corliss didnt mean to take it out on her, but in reality she needed to exspolde on someone. Just the fact that the vampires were lurking around in Forks, luring alot of danger and trouble into the town, her and Zak had to stay...forever it seemed.
Vampires were eternal, shifters were as well. It seemed the only time that she would be able to escape was when she was dead.

She knew. That much was clear. She knew Bella and the Cullens were vampires. But she didn't understand their lifestyle. Bella would have told her if Corliss hadn't exploded in a fit of rage blaming Bella and her family for their troubles.
Her defensive side kicked into high gear "If you would stop being so fucking closed minded and listen for once in your life then maybe you wouldn't be so quick to judge!" She spat as her engine continued to purr. She knew a little of what Corliss was going through. They were very alike in some ways, Bella had dealt with falling in love with someone of practically another species and knew what it was like to deal with the consequences of that. But Corliss would never give her a chance to explain that. She would have to suffer on her own now.
"Go ahead and keep on blaming other people Corliss. Be miserable! Makes no difference to me!" She said out the open window before hitting the gas hard and pulling off down the road. She hooked a hard U-turn that could rival her husband;s crazy driving and squeeled past Corliss again who was still on the side of the road.
She fumed as she drove. The crappy paperback was still in the backseat of her car where to thew it she rolled her eyes. What a waste of a trip out. A shitty book, ice cream she couldn't eat and a pissed off Corliss Makwa who would certainly go tell her shape-shifter husband about the joy ride she had received from a "blood sucker". Perfect. How many times had Edward told her to stop meddling in things that were none of her business?

Corliss's reaction was faster then she ever thought it could be, her blood boilked within her as she bent down and scooped up the stone. It had a good weight within her hand, felt right, felt as if it would get the job done for her. As Isabella swereved by her once more, Corliss chucked the rock at the rear window of the car, watching as it cracked and spiderwebbed the glass. Fully aware that the person she just attacked, her father was the cheif of Police, she really didnt give a damn. Her anger was all she cared about at the moment, the fact that if it were her husband that this happened too, he would have taken care of the problem in a second.
His skin would shift, his bones would crack and realine, and then he would have tore into the car and ripped the vampire limb from limb. Treaty be damned. The rich self centered vampire deserved nothing more then to have all of her bones broken, and her life torn to shreds. Corliss didnt realize that she had fallen to the ground untill the damp pavement seeped into her yoga pants, wetting her skin beneth them. Her hands were trembling as she sat there, seething with anger.
