"Everything I touch, I break"
Name: Dr. Carlisle Cullen
Age: Physically about 23
True Age: Born in 1640
Sex: Male
Location: Forks, Washington
"I scratch and tear until it bleeds."
Appearance:
Carlisle stands at 6'3 and is slim but not overly muscular. He has a chiseled face with a sharp jaw and a straight nose. Like the rest of his family he has amber gold eyes and cold white skin. He has thick light blond hair that is combed back in the perfect neat untidiness so he looks male-model perfect all the time.
"I cant wait to break you"
Personality:
Carlisle has had hundreds years to come to terms to what he has become and adapt to a way of life that aligns with his ideals. He feels a great need to do what is "right" morally. Of course this can often conflict with the violent world he and his family are a part of as well as the needs of a vampire. Generally the best words to describe his personality are compassionate, kind and intelligent.
He is very empathetic which is what drove him to become a doctor in the first place and drives him to continue to learn and grow in his profession. It also played a large part in his decision to to transform each of his family members (with the exception of Alice and Jasper, who joined post-transformation). He was also driven by loneliness to create a companion for himself, one of the only selfish decisions he ever made. Though it was made in a moment of weakness, he has rarely regretted the decision to change Edward that day.
Power/Ability: None out of the ordinary. His self control could be considered a super power.

History:
The son of an Anglican pastor, Carlisle was born in London, England in the 1640's. Ironically he took over his father's duty as a hunter of witches, werewolves and vampires when his father grew to old to do it himself. One night he was perusing a coven of vampires in an unfamiliar part of the city. When he got lost he was attacked and easily overpowered. He was nearly killed, but for unknown reasons was left alive but bitten. He sulked off to suffer, alone and confused.
When he had transformed completely he went into hiding ashamed at what he had now become and what he was yearning to do, kill to feed. To remedy the situation he attempted to kill himself, not once but several times. Of course this was to no avail and he found himself growing hungrier until he could no longer stand it. Unable to find it within himself to take a human's life he fled to the forest. Out of desperation he used his new found power and speed to feed on a heard of roaming deer. The relief this gave him made him realize he could survive off the blood of animals and keep his soul clean.
He found his calling as a doctor and with hundreds of years of experience and practice he not only found himself able to resist the temptation from exposure to human blood, but also became an extremely good doctor. He travel to the Americas which is where he met the first member of his family. Edward was dying of Spanish Influenza when he Carlisle found him. Unable to let him die Carlisle transformed him and taught him how to survive the way he did. But his world changed the day he came upon a young woman at the hospital named Esme Evenson. After saving her and transforming her, he fell deeply in love with her. It was if fate had brought their gentle souls together. One by one Carlisle's family came together. They currently have formed a permanent residence in Forks, Washington where Carlisle arranged a treaty with the nearby Quileute pack.
"My Life, My Pain, I hate my darkest days"
Role Play Sample:
The room was quiet. The only sound one could hear (to the human ear at least) was the soft drumming of Carlisle's fingers on the oversized wooden desk. The office, which was more like a library had been skillfully designed just for him by his wife Esme. She had carefully arranged his collection of antiques in with original mid century pieces. A true tribute to his long life, bits a pieces from all over the world, from all different times. He sat back in his high-back leather chair resting his chin on one fist and his other hand creating a slow, rhythmic drumming. The sound rang through his acutely sensitive ears like thunder.
They found themselves in an interesting dilemma. He knew what Bella and Rose wanted. He even got the feeling his beloved Esme wanted to have this child. And he certainly knew how Edward felt about it. He made that perfectly clear. But what was the answer. There had to be a way to make everyone happy and above all keep everyone safe. A stack of books and scrolls were scattered uncharacteristically across his usually neat desk. He had searched through nearly every manuscript and document he had collected and nothing. The longer he searched, the more hopeless he began to feel. The room was beginning to fill with a redish gold light from the setting sun outside his floor to ceiling windows. The light grazed his skin and made him sparkle faintly like yellow diamond. It didn't even phase him.
He stood up running one hand through his blond hair, pushing it back into place. Carlisle moved gracefully to the window. His library faced the side of the house that looked out over the valley. He could see for miles, every deer and predator in their woods. None of which were a threat to them. So how could this one little child be the biggest threat their family had ever known? He gazed blankly over the landscape as he ran through his memory one more time, sifting through it like an infinite filing cabinet. Somewhere there had to be something, an answer. Suddenly he stopped. He blinked once(even though he physically didn't have to). "Of course." He whispered. It wasn't much, but it was a start, a tiny token of knowledge long forgotten. But it would help.
