Rosalie stepped through the house and could sense Esme in the house. She could sense Carlisle near as well, so she figured that they were both back from Seattle already. She walked with Emmett into the sitting room where she sensed Esme and leaned against the couch, "Hello, Esme." she greeted, sugar-coated with sweetness. She was acting as if nothing had happened earlier for a bit then continued, "May we speak to you and Carlisle both?" she asked, still in the same tone as before. She put on a fake smile as well, but she knew that they could tell that she was faking.

"Um..."Esme hesitated at the sweeet tone in her daughter's voice. "I suppose. I'm not sure where he is but...he'll turn up some time."

Carlisle had been reading in his study, something that even to a fellow vampire was a near silent task (unless of course you were Edward and could read his mind, which was running at full speed). He had been reviewing Ancel's history again, skimming it for anything he might have missed before. He heard Rosalie request his presence downstairs. "I'll be right down." He said in conversational volume so they could just barely hear him. He put his book down and made his way downstairs.
he made his way swiftly into the living room where he found Rosalie, Emmett and Esme waiting for it. "You had somethign to talk to us about?" He asked softly.

Emmett almost growled at his parents. They seriously didn’t know what Emmett and Rosalie wanted to ask them about? His body tensed up and he just hoped they would lie to them. If that happened, Emmett might not get out of the room in time.
But, putting on a false smile for his wife, Emmett asked his parents the question that they were either dreading or trying to put off. “Esme, Carlisle. We want to know why… who… that Garetth vampire is. Why you both acted so strange around him. Care to, uhm… tell the truth…?”
{sorry, museless for Emmett and the moment >_<}

Carlisle almost laughed out loud seeing his two of his children so worked up over this. The family had been so quick to panic the last few years. Esme had been worst of all. He slipped a hand onto her shoulder and squeezed gently, urging her to relax.
He smiled warmly at Rosalie and then looked to Emmett. "Would you like to sit down and we can talk about this?" He asked indicating to the mid-centruy modern living room furniture in the next room. "You know I always tell you the complete and honest truth. In our situation, there is no reason for me to lie." He said firmly. Lying was practically useless in their family. Of course Edward knew the whole truth, and Alice often could figure it out based on her vision. Jasper could tell when someone was uncomfortable or lying. Besides, it was safest if everyone knew the whole truth. Carlisle made it a point to tell them everything they needed to know.

Rosalie smiled, feeling victorious over the small matter, when she heard Carlisle say he'd be there. She smiled, a very small smirk evident as well, "Yes." She felt her husband tense up from behind her. She, too, was very annoyed at her 'parents'. Not only did they -apparently- not know what was bothering their two youngest 'children'. She turned her body slightly around and placed her arm lightly on Emmett's arm soothingly. No, she wasn't empathetic like Jasper, but she knew when her love was upset...and this was obviously one of those times.
Rosalie switched her eyesight from both of her parents, studying their expressions for any evidence that they were hiding something. If they were hiding something. "Yes, I'm still not particularly following...why, exactly, it was a big deal that he was near me." she added on to Emmett's question they were both dying to know. She stared hard at Carlisle and Esme, waiting for their response, and to whether or not it was the truth.
Rosalie folded her arms over her chest. Her stubborn side was showing and it was very obvious. She shook her head, her attention focused on specifically Carlisle for now. If Esme were to speak up, then she would gain some attention from Rose too. She chuckled a bit at Carlisle's stab at the family's attempt at lying. There was absolutely no use in lying in the Cullen family. "Well, from my assumptions, he was involved in your pasts? Something to deal with the Volturi, given Aro was involved in the conversation a bit?"

Edward watched his wife act stubborn. He decided to play it the same way and the vampire pushed his free big hand inside his jean pockets, his other hand rested on Rosalie’s shoulder. “We’ll stand, thanks.” He answered Carlisle. Then he listened to his wife as she mentioned the Volturi. Volturi? He hadn’t been there when that lot had been mentioned… Oh well. Emmett stood and awaited his “father”’s reply.
{Gah, sorry its short…}

Carlisle nodded as Emmett insisted on standing. "Yes, Garetth is involved with the Volturi, but that isn't what makes him dangerous." HE said as he slipped his arm around Esme's waist. He was going to tell them the truth, though it was something they probably already knew. "You know the way we live is... unusual. And most vampires that cross our path respect me enough to accept our diet. Some are even curious." Most nomads that passed through were relatively harmless. Sometimes they would stop and visit, curious about the ever famous Cullens and they're hybrid granddaughter. But they would leave and the visit would be peaceful.
His lips tensed a little before he went on. "But some of our species... Like Garetth, don't approve of our lifestyle. The thought of drinking blood that is not human seems unnatural and repulsive to them." He frowned a little at the next thought. "We are considered 'unclean' or 'impure' to them." He finished. This was of course dangerous. Carlisle's path had crossed Garetth's before, but never when he had a family. Only when it was just him. Now that he had a whole family of vampires that choose to adopt his way of life he wasn't sure what Garetth would think or do.

Rosalie spoke out no reaction to Emmett's words, but agreed through her actions. She continued to stand up. She smirked slightly when Carlisle confirmed her assumption. She had always liked being right. "If that's not it, then what does?" she asked. Rosalie nodded along with his words about their coven's lifestyle. It was abnormal to the regular way to live as vampires. She was used to other vampires not particularly caring about how they lived, as so long as they didn't try to enforce it upon them.
She knew sooner or later the coven would encounter some vampires who absolutely did not approve of their lifestyle. But the thought didn't bother her as much as it probably should have. Rosalie furrowed her brow, "So, what? He's going to try and execute us and our ways?" she asked, it was a bit confusing to her. "Why would it really matter what his opinion is over our lives?" she asked. She didn't really see why it would or would not matter, unless he tried to do drastic things.

"It's hard to understand," Esme said quietly, "why some don't accept us the way we choose to live. I still don't see what the problem is, but what we need to do is be careful of Garreth."

Rosalie heard Esme's comment and said nothing in response. She turned back around to question Carlisle, seeing as apparently he knew a little bit more on this subject. A question occurred to her thoughts and her visually perfect face grew confused. "It doesn't seem like that's all. We've had to deal with things similar to this before - " her memory flashed briefly to James, Victoria and Laurent - "and you guys didn't react this way. Is there a distinction between him that is harmful?"
{ OOC: still a bit museless for Rosalie. }

Carlisle pursed his lips into the slightest of reassuring smiles. There was no need to panic... not yet. Carlisle was always good an maintaining his cool, calm composure. If he had Jasper's gift he would be using it right about now. "Really, there is no need to worry yet. We just need to be careful, like we always are." He said placing a gentle hand on Rose's shoulder and smiling at Emmett.
There was of course more to it and he wasn't going to hide it from them. He did his best to be up front and honest with his family. "The other problem with Garreth is we don't know where his allegiance lies. He is a very complex vampire and at times he has associated himself with different clans, very dangerous clans and I am currently unaware of who he is working with, if anyone." He had had trouble tracking down Garreth's whereabouts recently until he turned up here in Washington. It seemed like a strange coincidence to Carlisle, one he wasn't about to ignore.
