A silver grey wolf ran at almost lightning speed through the woods. How the being was able to dodge around the trees was only known to those who could do it themselves. Foolish humans would think that the wolf, otherwise known as Leah Clearwater, was some kind of genetically enhanced one. Some humans may even try to capture the animal. If they could - which they probably could not.
Leah was running as it was a hobby of hers, one of the things she enjoyed doing most. It felt good to feel the wind blowing strongly against her thick fur, which glistened everytime she passed a patch of sunlight seeping through the many trees. The she-wolf enjoyed running free, running all alone and not even need to stop. She could run as far as she wanted for as long as she wanted. The feeling was great.
But, unfortunately, it was not always silent. She would often have her brother or Jacob's thoughts pestering her inside of her head. Luckily though, they seemed to have shut up. maybe Jake was in human form, hanging out with the half-breed thing. She didn't know where Seth was though. oh wait, he was probably eating or something. That would be so typical of Leah's brother.
'You really should keep your thoughts reined in better.' The voice seemed to appear out of nowhere and the wind wasn't carrying a scent to match the voice..but there it was.
Jacob had gone to visit his dad on the reservation and was making the long run back to Forks. He had to admit that runs like these, when he could be out by himself, were relaxing. He didn't do it as much as some others. But since moving back to Forks he found the urge to run through the woods of his childhood greater than before. This was home. It was as much a part of him as was his flesh and bone.
Jacob came across the deep creek and fell into stride, running along next to Leah. He was tall and lean, russet brown. 'Never know who might be listening.'

Jacob had taken Leah by surprise and she lost her footing for a split second. She regained momentum easily, but she felt anger rise in her body anyway. ‘Ugh, Jacob Black! You’re so annoying…’ Leah groaned and tried running faster than Jacob. But even if she could, which she probably couldn’t now he had closed in on her, the thoughts wouldn’t leave her. If Leah were human, she would’ve groaned, but in wolf form in was replaced by a soft growl. It did seem a bit more effective anyway.
‘Why the hell are you here pest?’ She asked spitefully, but her ‘voice’ had turned into a kinder version of what it was when Jacob had first thought at her and made her loose balance. Yes she was still p*ssed about that. Leah probably wouldn’t calm down for a while now.

' That is no way to greet a friend 'Jacob gave her a less than gentle nudge with his shoulder. Theirs was no doubt a love/hate relationship that changed with the tides. Although in reality she was a very dependable friend.
' I'm hurt, really. Here I am, on my way home and taking a rather significant detour, JUST to say hello, and this is what I get? You don't write, no calls, no smoke signals... ' His rather infectious laugh was present in his mental voice.
His feet pounded the ground and he dodged trees with ease. He matched his pace to hers

‘Oh ha ha ha, Jacob you’re so funny. God, you really do get on my nerves. I didn’t send you any letters because them stupid leeches would probably dip their nose in where it wasn’t wanted – oh wait, you don’t mind hanging around with that Half-Breed scum. So I guess you wouldn’t mind her mummy and daddy joining in the letter writing and then their whole family will know of our conversations. You know, having that leech constantly dipping into my mind is really p*ssing me off. Tell it’s enough having you, Seth, Sam and god knows whoelse in my head all at the same time.’
Okay, Leah was going on one of her tirades. Wait, no, one of her infamous tirades.
Now she just awaited Jacob’s reaction. No, she decided to cut him off before he could even start. ‘Just because you imprinted on that scumbag doesn’t mean I have to like her. I’m going to give up being a shifter one day. I tell you I will. Then I won’t have to serve under you and literally worship our enemies. I should have just stayed with Sam.’[/blockquote]

Jacob ducked and smashed into her full force before skidding to a stop in front of her and growling, showing his teeth with as much anger as he could show with his wolf face. 'If you don't like them, then that is fine. But you will NOT talk that way about Reneesme. Do we have an understanding?'
He stopped himself from making a comment about Sam and Leah's realationship. It wasn't his style to be harsh or hurtful on purpose. He just stood there, seething and angry, glaring at her and baring his teeth

Now Leah was no weak wolf. No, she definitely wasn’t one of them. She could handle Seth, Paul and maybe Jared too. But Jacob was as strong, if not stronger, than Sam and Leah had no chance against either of the two. She flew into a tree and stay lying on the ground, looking up at Jacob with hurt eyes. Then it turned into a glare and she pushed herself up. Already she was healing from the broken leg and after about ten minutes it would be running ready again. She snarled and bared her teeth at her Alpha and snapped her teeth at him.
‘You wouldn’t do that to your filthy Half-Breed, why do it to your ‘Beta’. Oh, didn’t the scumbag’s mommy give you that idea for a name. I don’t want it now.” She snapped back mentally, then jumped up on her three legs. Then she started limping in an attempt to get back home. ‘You care more about that f*cking Half-Breed than me. How the hell do you think that makes me feel, huh? You’ll never be the leader Sam was. You jerk.’

Jacob's mouth closed and he started to speak and then stopped again. What she had just said was the one thing that could actually hurt him. He wanted to get more angry, he wanted to get madder. Instead he sank to his haunches and hung his head.
' I'm sorry Leah. ' He walked forward and nudged her to stop, to sit back off the injured leg he had heard crack. ' You are right, about all of it. I haven't been fair to you. And I'm not the leader like Sam was. But I don't want to be like Sam. He was harsh and cruel sometimes. He ruled the pack through fear and stern force. That isn't who I want to be. '

Leah threw her body to the floor and sighed. She let out a long breathe and relaxed the leg that had broken from the impact with the tree. Jacob was right, it would mend a lot quicker if she relaxed it. Leah was starting to feel bad though. She knew that she’d hit him where it hurt, and at the time she’d wanted that. Now she just wanted to take everything back and start it all over.
‘Jake… don’t apologize. I should be apologizing. I’m really sorry about everything I said. I know how much you care about the Ha- Renesmee girl. You imprinted, Sam did the same. I just guess that’s messed me up completely. You aren’t a jerk and… I really do prefer you as a leader to Sam.” She gave him her wolfy grin and nudged his shoulder blade softly with her nose. Then she licked his fur and lay back again. She could feel her bones fixing inside of her.
‘But I’m going to quite being a shifter, I don’t know when. But I told you this when Bella was pregnant, didn’t I? I really can’t stand this… this mental connection all the time and… well this life isn’t mine.”

He laid his massive over her neck, in a rather caring gesture. He still was actually glad to be around her again. He knew how hard this was. She had been in love with someone who, when he had first become a wolf, had imprinted on someone else. It seemed that just about everyone among the pack had someone, and Leah, the only girl of the group, didn't.
' I don't think any of us will be this way forever. But if this is getting to be too hard, I understand. I will try to spend sometime with you guys though, I know I've been neglecting my duties. ' Despite being younger he felt very like he was an older brother when they were together.

The silver wolf’s eyes glinted and her teeth were bared in a smile. Leah was really glad to have Jacob around. The good thing about their relationship was that they could have a huge argument and in a few minutes could be completely fine again. They were literally like brother and sister, probably more so than Leah and her real brother, Seth.
‘You don’t have to do that, you know. I mean, Renesmee is… well the love of your life really. No one could ever replace her I guess. But, yeah, spending more time with you and my bro would be cool. Leah really liked the feel of Jacob’s wolf head on her skin. It was very comforting. She had once or twice in the past considered the fact that she may have fallen in love with Jacob. But she knew that wasn’t true, of course not. If they ever had fallen into a romantic relationship, it would have been torn apart within a few days. If their friendship was a love/hate, their relationship would probably end in smithereens, literally.
Leah was pretty desperate to imprint. Not only because everyone else had another to their pair, but this whole ‘living alone’ thing was really p*ssing her off. She knew that if she imprinted, everything about Sam would be washed out of her mind and… she’d only feel love for that one guy.

'I don't do anything because I have to.' Becoming pack leader was, case in point, one of the things he did only because he had finally chosen to. He nudge her shoulder and stood up, stretching. He wanted to make sure she was ok before he started back home.
'Should be ok to walk on it now. We should take it easy though.' Jacob knew he was going to be a better leader than Sam, he just needed to start actting like it. The pack was there to help and support each other.

Leah pushed her body up and tested putting weight on her now mended leg. It was pretty much healed now, maybe it was at the stage where a human would be bruised. She could still run and once she got home, it would be like nothing had even happened. That was one of the coolest thing about being a shape-shifter; your regenerative healing factor. That was really, really cool. Hard to cover up though, of course. If a human saw her break her arm, she’d have to put a cast on to fake it. Yuck. So far, though, it hadn’t happened.
‘Nah, I can run. Race ya!’ Leah immediately started running, trying to get as big a head start as she could. Jake and herself were neck and neck at running and that made Leah feel a lot better. She was as fast as her Alpha, but he could still beat her blindfolded. That wasn’t exactly a brilliant expression if used to describe a shape-shifter though. Quite silly really.

There was only stop and wide open with Leah. She never seemed to slow down. Jacob took off after her at a solid run, but rather than push her too hard, he slowed down when he caught up.
'I'm going to head off back towards Forks, or do you need me to see you home?'

’Nah, I’ll be fine, see ya Jakey.’ Leah started running faster to get home, then she’d go and have a nap. By the time she was called down by her mom to eat, her broken bone would feel good as new. Yep, that was definitely a good advantage.
Running through the trees and nearing her house, Leah changed form. She grabbed the clothes he had hanging on a tree nearby and pulled them on as she ran as a human into her front door.
